Annotated Graduate Transcript

Here is the path of my educational journey through the Master of Arts in Learning Experience and Design at Michigan State University. It is a list of my classes, who guided me through them, as well as what I experienced from the class. Some important acronyms for the classes CEP are Counseling and Educational Psychology, EAD is Department of Educational Administration, UX is User Experience.

CEP 800 Psychology of Learning in School and Other Settings

Dr. Brittany Dillman
Fall 2024

EAD 861‍ ‍Adult Learning

Dr. Emiko Blalock
Fall 2024

CEP 800 takes different learning theories in education. This was for both formal and non-formal education, and for children and adults. We learned that the science of learning can incorporate many of these theories and that teaching and learning do not just follow one philosophy but can incorporate many models.

EAD 861 takes a lot of the theories from CEP800; however, it applies them to adults and how they learn. It focuses on their life experiences and motivations. It looks at adult learners and their personal lives, and all that goes on with being an adult. It also looks at how to create a learning experience with one of these experiences and the time needed.

CEP 822Approaches to Educational Research

Dr. Cary Roseth & Sheza Mansoor Spring 2025

In CEP 822, I learned how to look deep into educational research. The class moved me past just reading studies to actually understanding the details and important information behind them, from the hard math of statistics to the human stories gathered through interviews. I developed the skills to analyze tech tools critically and design my own inquiries, turning heavy academic theory into a practical toolkit for solving real-world problems in my professional work.

CEP 820‍ ‍Teaching and Learning Online

Nicole Zumpano & Anne Heintz
Spring 2025

CEP 820 focuses on the design and instruction of online learning. We explored historical foundations, course management systems, Universal Design for Learning, community building, and assessment strategies. We used research and theory to critically analyze online learning while providing hands-on opportunities to design and create digital educational content.

UX 835Accessibility and Design

Louise Stauffer
Summer 2025

Dr. Brittany Dillman
Summer 2025

Candace Robertson
Fall 2025

Dr. Blair Stamper
Fall 2025

UX 835 was a massive wake-up call. Honestly, I was pretty blind to how many digital and physical barriers I was accidentally putting up for my students. It turned out to be one of the most eye-opening experiences I’ve had because it forced me to see all the "invisible" ways our technology can leave people behind. I learned the actual craft of building tools that work for everyone, no matter their abilities. The readings were also very powerful.

CEP 813Electronic Assessment

CEP 813 helped me move past the "test and grade" way of doing things and focus on how we actually measure growth. I got into the "why" behind assessments, but the real work was tearing apart the tools. Things like portfolios, rubrics, and surveys are ways to see what really works. I learned that assessment isn't just a final score at the end; it's a way to gather info so I can make better teaching choices in the moment. The best part was learning how to design these for digital spaces, making sure the tools actually help students learn while they're doing them, not just after. It gave me a much sharper lens for using data to make sure I’m actually reaching every student.

CEP 857Current Topics and Trends in Learning Design

CEP 857 was a focus on where learning design is headed. We looked to understand the theories that actually make them work, along with the industry standards required for teachers and students. The real shift for me was looking at the ethics of design. It made me realize that every choice I make has a social impact, so I have to be incredibly intentional with what I build. I now have a solid framework to ensure the tech I choose actually serves the people I’m designing for.

CEP 856Learning Design Leadership

CEP 856 This course focused on what it actually takes to lead a project from start to finish. We moved beyond just having good ideas to focus on the "how,” Specifically the coaching and mentorship models needed to support a team and the project management skills required to keep everything on track. I learned how a project moves through its entire cycle.

CEP 858Upskilling in Learning Design

Dr. Andy Saltarelli Spring 2026

CEP 858 is allowing me to identify the specific gaps in my skills and build a custom plan to close them. The focus here is on self-driven exploration in choosing the areas of learning design that matter most to my work and actually pursuing the resources to master them. It focuses more on the intentional practice of advancing my own expertise in the areas I’ve targeted.

CEP 807Capstone Seminar

Dr. Matthew Koehler & Megan Eikey
Spring 2026

CEP 807 is the Capstone Seminar where everything I’ve learned throughout the MALXD program finally comes together. It is a space to showcase my work and demonstrate my success through this program. The goal is to create a professional digital portfolio that clearly showcases my design philosophy and the projects I have done. This allows me to communicate my knowledge and show my success in this program.
